We break down all the new releases announced for Blu-Ray and DVD that any genre fan would be happy to own or perhaps check out for the first time.

Scream Factory unveiled not one, not two, but three new SteelBook additions to their collection as well as a very special announcement of a Collector’s Edition for a modern classic, while British label 88 Films has announced that it will add four new titles to its Blu-ray catalog: Umberto Lenzi and James Justice’s Nightmare Beach (1989), Philip Brophy’s Body Melt (1993), Mark Herrier and Alan Ormsby’s Popcorn (1991), and Simon Wincer’s Harlequin a.k.a. Dark Forces (1980). We got a lot to cover so let’s get started!

Trick ‘r Treat

Scream Factory announced that it will celebrate the 10th anniversary of Michael Dougherty’s film Trick ‘r Treat (2008) with a brand new Collector’s Edition of the film.

The label has also confirmed that director Dougherty is involved with the preparation of the upcoming release and that there will be exclusive new bonus features that will be produced for it. All legacy bonus features from the previous release will be transferred to the new release as well. Final technical specs and bonus features will be announced in September.

A creepy, darkly comic celebration of the scariest night of the year from writer-director Michael Dougherty (Krampus, Godzilla: King Of The Monsters), Trick ‘r Treat takes the Creepshow/Tales From The Crypt approach to nefarious new depths with four interwoven tales set on Halloween night. A high school principal (Dylan Baker) moonlights as a vicious serial killer; the quest of a young virgin (Anna Paquin) for that special someone takes a gruesome turn; a group of teens carries out a cruel prank with disastrous consequences; and a cantankerous old man (Brian Cox) battles a mischievous trick-or-treating demon.
